The Alamogordo Public Library continues to enhance existing services and even offer totally new services to the community. FREE notary service is now available at the library to anyone 18 years and older who present a valid government picture identification. Under certain circumstances, this availability can pertain to minors meeting identification criteria. However, only in-person notarizations are being accepted at the time.
Four (4) Alamogordo Public Library staff members have become certified notary publics within the State of New Mexico, which should avail the service during all hours that the library is open. This service will even be provided on Mondays and Fridays when only curbside services are offered. According to Library Manager Kim Underwood, “Providing notary service to our community just seemed like a logical and beneficial service enhancement at this time. We are already staffed to accommodate our current customer base, plus these ease the demands made on our City Clerk’s Office. Of the numerous and diverse services we offer to the City of Alamogordo’s citizens and that of Otero County, access to free notary public services should be counted among them.”
At this time, appointments are not necessary, but this may change depending on the volume of requests received for notary services in the near future, and the availability of certified staff on particular days.
