- What items are prohibited or restricted at the Alameda Park Zoo

Items not permitted include, but are not limited to, the following:
Animals / Pets
Weapons (e.g. guns, knifes, razor blades, box cutters)
Alcohol, marijuana (including marijuana-enriched products), and any illegal substances
Bicycles, scooters, roller skates/blades, roller shoes, hoverboards skateboards and riding toys
Remote control toys
Disruptive items (e.g. laser pointers, silly string, party poppers, fireworks, stink bombs, air horns, tools, musical instruments, megaphones, noise makers, toys that make loud noises)
Drones or flying toys
Restraining devices (e.g., handcuffs, zip ties) or any suspicious items (duck tape, wire)
Glass bottles or containers
Masks, costumes and other items deemed by Zoo management
No Solicitation
Shirt and shoes are required. No offensive or profane clothing.

- What are the rules at the Alameda Park Zoo

VISITOR SAFETY
Visitors must remain on pathways. Any fencing, rails, rocks and other barriers between you and the animals are there to protect both you and the animals from harm. Please do not lift children over safety rails, play on rocks, rest them on railings or stick fingers or arms through fences. Do not enter nonpublic areas.
Chaperones must remain with their students at all times.
SMOKING
To provide a healthy, safe environment for visitors, staff and animals, the zoo prohibits smoking of any type, including vaping and e-cigarettes. Guests who wish to smoke may leave the zoo grounds to do so.
PETS
The Alameda park is considered a quarantine facility in order to protect the health of the animal collection. Only animals allowed inside the Zoo are certified service animals that are permitted under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Animals that provide emotional support and companion animals are not service animals and may not enter the facility. Please do not leave your pet in your vehicle.
FEEDING ANIMALS
Our animals are on special diets and food outside those diets can harm the animals. The Zoo does offer coin feeders with duck food, which is to be fed only to ducks at our duck pond for $.25 (quarters only).
RESPECTING ANIMALS
Please show respect for the Zoo’s inhabitants by refraining from banging on windows, throwing objects including food into exhibits, harassing, chasing or teasing the animals.
TOYS
Any balls, Frisbees, jump ropes or any throwing/kicking toys are to be kept out of animal areas.
VEGETATION
The plants/vegetation throughout the zoo is there for everyone to enjoy, please refrain from destroying by pulling off leaves, flowers and branches.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Children 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult on zoo grounds.
- May I bring my pet to the Zoo?

- Can I bring food into the parks?

Yes! Guests are welcome to bring their own food. For the safety of park guests and wildlife in our care; no glass containers or alcohol are allowed on grounds, and no facilities are available for food storage. We do not offer dining options only small concession items; We do allow guests to exit and re-enter the Zoo should they choose to go dine off site.
If you leave the park and want to return, you will need your hand stamped to re enter the facility.
Members may show their membership cards and valid photo ID to re-enter.
If you intend to leave the Zoo and return within the same day, you must re enter the Zoo before last entry at 4:30
- Does the Zoo offer wheelchair rentals?

Yes! We have a manual wheelchair free of charge.
Inventory is limited and provides these items on a first-come first-served basis. No advance reservations are available. We recommend arriving early to secure one.
- Does the Zoo offer stroller rentals?

Yes!
We have single, double and safari carts available to rent for a fee. The daily charge for a single stroller is $3.50 a double stroller is $5 and a safari cart is $6.50.
Inventory is limited therefore are provided these items on a first-come first-served basis. No advance reservations are available. We recommend arriving early to secure one.
Unattended strollers are left at one's own risk. Please do not leave personal belongings in an unattended stroller.
- Does the Zoo have a Lost and Found?

For guests who have lost something while visiting, please contact the gift shop attendant to inquire if your item was turned in to the gift shop. Include complete contact information in case your item is found.
- Does the Zoo hold birthday parties?

Yes, please visit our birthday packages.
- Does the Zoo have WI-FI?

Yes! We offer free WI-FI in the gift shop.
- What time of day will I see more animals?

There really isn't a special time that wildlife would be more in view, many of our animals are early risers and may be a bit more active in the morning.
Wildlife may be taken off public view for a variety of reasons such as environmental conditions, health issues, and behavioral concerns. Many habitats are designed for animals to have the option to remove themselves from visitor view at any time. Refunds or exchanges are not possible in cases of inclement weather or exhibit closure. Welcome to call ahead of time to check for any changes or closures.
- Can I feed the animals?

- How long can I stay in the Zoo?

You are welcome to stay until the Zoo closes at 5pm
If you leave the park and want to return, you will need your hand stamped for readmission to the Zoo

- Can I leave Alameda Park Zoo and be readmitted on the same day?

Yes, for same-day re-entry, guests should have their hand stamped for re admission to the Zoo.

- Can my child enter the Zoo without an adult?

Children 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by a paid adult age 18+ to enter and stay with throughout their visit.
- Does my child need adult supervision at the Zoo?

- Are backpacks allowed?

Guests are welcome to bring a backpack into the Zoo.
- Are drones allowed at the Zoo?

No. Drones are not permitted on or above Zoo grounds at any time.
- Can I use a selfie stick at the Zoo?

The Alameda Park Zoo prohibits guests from reaching past exhibit barriers or entering animal exhibits. Policies as such are in place for the safety and well-being of wildlife in our care as well as park guests. Guests may use selfie sticks, but these devices may not reach past exhibit barriers.

- How do I arrange an interview with animal care staff?

We are unable to accommodate such requests as this could take our animal care team away from their primary responsibilities to the animals in their care.
- Where can I find the Zoo events?

Events are located in our events tab on a calendar or can be found on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
- How does the Zoo handle special events and vendor requests?

No, events are put on by a third party and the Zoo is hosting the event.
